Rainbow Chimes Takes Proactive Role to Protect Children From Drivers Under the Influence of Alcohol

Child Care Provider Partners With Sens-O-Lock of America

HUNTINGTON, NY--(Marketwire - January 28, 2010) - Even before Governor Patterson signed Leandra's Law, one of the toughest DWI laws in the country, Rainbow Chimes child care took a proactive position to protect children by installing ignition interlocks from Sens-O-Lock of America on their buses. Ignition interlocks prevent a driver, under the influence of alcohol, from operating a vehicle. The driver must provide a clean air sample, meaning free of alcohol, prior to starting the bus. If breath alcohol is present, the bus will not start and the violation information is stored in the system for reporting purposes. The unique Sens-O-Lock of America interlock technology also prevents drivers from leaving the bus running in an attempt to bypass the system prior to returning to drive the bus.

Allan Kasof, Delegate Director of Rainbow Chimes, says, "Protecting our children is of paramount importance to us. Although we have never had an alcohol related incident, we want to assure parents of children attending Rainbow Chimes that their children will not be exposed to a driver under the influence of alcohol. Our partnership with Sens-O-Lock of America alleviates this concern."

"Rainbow Chimes has taken a leadership position in the state by being the first to install ignition interlocks on school buses," says Craig Lotz, CEO of Sens-O-Lock of America. "It's very disturbing to know that children across our country are being endangered by drivers operating school buses while under the influence of alcohol. This situation is very preventable through the use of ignition interlocks. I applaud Rainbow Chimes proactive measure and hope other schools will follow their lead."
