Raise a Pint! The Firkin & Hound Re-opens in Visalia

VISALIA, CALIFORNIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 21, 2009) - This week, The Firkin & Hound full service restaurant modeled after a traditional neighbourhood English pub—is excited to announce the reopening of its doors in Visalia. Former guests and those new to the pub now have a new place to gather, raise a glass and "cheers" as The Firkin & Hound officially taps its first kegs, fires up the grill and opens its doors to the community.

As a casual and comfortable neighbourhood establishment, The Firkin & Hound will serve an extensive lunch and dinner menu, a brunch menu on weekends and a late night menu for Visalia's night-owls. The Hound will also offer different specials daily, with set menu fare ranging from traditional English pub dishes like Fish 'n' Chips, Cottage Pie and Bangers, Beans & Mash to signature items like the Firkin Angus Burger, Jameson Salmon and Homemade Mac & Cheese with Ham. When guests arrive at the Hound however, they will not only be tempted by the traditional pub fare but pint lovers will also enjoy sampling one of the 14 assorted brews on tap.

The Firkin and Hound owner, Jim Phalan, decided to re-open the pub's doors after being offered the opportunity to take over the once-popular location. "Everyone I spoke with that used to frequent the Hound when it first opened agreed—the pub was a great spot to have a quick lunch, enjoy dinner with family or just to watch a game and have some beers with friends. People enjoyed the fun décor and friendliness of the servers and bartenders. With the addition of a patio, a pool table in "The Pound", changes in the kitchen and a re-emphasis that the Hound is a traditional English pub serving good food and good Firkin pints, I think the public will really enjoy the re-opening of this local hot spot!"

The kitchen changes to which Phalan refers is the hiring of Jose Guevara—former executive chef of a Cheesecake Factory and Daily Grill locations. Guevara brings his 20 years of restaurant experience to The Firkin & Hound to manage all kitchen operations and to better the dining experience for all guests. They can also expect to see some of Guevara's delicious off-menu creations as daily specials in the coming weeks.
