Rebagz™ Launches New "Statement Makers" Eco-Chic Handbag Line to Support Charities in Style

First in the Series, the "Nipple" Bag, Benefits the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund (BCEF)

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - October 27, 2009) - In an effort to "change the world with style," the popular Rebagz™ Eco-Chic Handbags announces the launch of its new "Statement Makers" line of eco-friendly bags which will support organizations that are making a difference.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Rebagz is introducing the first handbag design in the "Statement Makers" series: the "Nipple" Bag, featuring a pink polka dot pattern and made using recycled materials. Part of the proceeds from sales of the "Nipple" Bags will benefit the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund (BCEF), which provides emergency financial assistance to low-income women and men of San Francisco and San Mateo County who are in active treatment for breast cancer.

"I think it's obscene that people go bankrupt because our healthcare system forces them to wipe out their savings just to survive," says Rebagz creator and company CEO Marty Stevens-Heebner. "The people in Washington who are making these decisions are covered; they have great insurance, so they're lunching with lobbyists and taking their time. We want to support the BCEF because they're focused on being an immediate part of the solution at the grassroots level, and I feel they need and deserve our support."

The "Nipple" Bags are made using recycled materials and feature a polka dot design. (The pattern's subtle enough that no one needs to know that the polka dots represent nipples.) The result is a fun and stylish way to support breast cancer awareness and the BCEF.

"BCEF is excited to partner with Rebagz!" says Mike Smith, Executive Director of the AIDS Emergency Fund & Breast Cancer Emergency Fund. "Our low-income clients battling breast cancer need our help with financial support while they are in active treatment. Rebagz has designed a unique fundraising program that provides funding for our clients and increases awareness about our work. In these tight times, we all have to think more creatively about how to raise funds for non-profits. Rebagz is leading the charge by giving back to the community with each 'Nipple' bag purchased."

Rebagz will soon be announcing other "Statement Makers" handbag designs and organizations they benefit. In addition, Rebagz donates $1 per order to Global Exchange.

About BCEF:

Since April 2001, BCEF has helped nearly 1000 low-income women undergoing breast cancer treatment pay their rent, utilities, medical and dental bills when they were too sick to work. This year alone, grants will be made on behalf of more than 300 women and men in San Francisco and San Mateo counties facing the financial hardship of a breast cancer diagnosis. By operating with very low overhead and sharing administrative costs with AIDS Emergency Fund, BCEF has been able to use more than 90 cents of every dollar raised for client grants.
