Red Back Mining Inc.: New High Grade at Paboase South

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - July 27, 2009) - Red Back Mining Inc. (the "Company" or "Red Back") (TSX:RBI) is pleased to announce the discovery of a significant high grade extension to the Paboase South Deposit at its Chirano Gold Mine in Ghana.

Drilling below the current Paboase South Underground Resource (2.27Mt grading 3.5g/t for 0.25Moz inferred resource) (News Release: March 30, 2009) has intersected the highest grades seen at Chirano outside of Akwaaba Deeps where underground production commenced in the second quarter and is ramping up smoothly.

The new Paboase South intercepts are listed in the table below.

Note: True widths are on average 50% of drilled intercepts

These latest results intersect mineralization up to 140m below the existing resource (550m below surface) with the deepest holes, CHRC1515D and CHRC1516D, intersecting the highest grades over a true width of approximately 30m. Drilling is ongoing with a view to estimating a revised Mineral Resource by the end of the year.

Commenting on the results, Richard Clark, President and CEO, stated: "Over the last two years the objective of exploration at Chirano has been to better understand the geology and mineralization of Akwaaba Deeps in order to identify other potential deposits at depth. These latest results below the Paboase South open pit show that we have accomplished that exploration objective and are on to something potentially significant. Of particular importance is the location of this discovery, only 2 kms from the Chirano plant site. We are very excited by this discovery and look forward to reporting on its development potential. At the same time, our exploration program continues, testing other targets at depth identified over the last two years."
