Reflex Security Ships Industry's First Blade-Based IPS Solution to Combine High Availability and Maximum Security

Redundant Clustering Architecture™ for Multi-Gig IPS Systems Provides Maximum Uptime Without Compromising Security

ATLANTA, GA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 5, 2006 -- Today, Reflex Security, Inc., pioneer and innovator in intrusion prevention systems (IPS), announced the immediate availability of its Redundant Clustering Architecture™ in the 5 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit systems in the Reflex Security IPS MG Family.

This solution delivers an industry-first enterprise-class IPS to uniquely combine high availability and security.

Up until now, IPS vendors have traditionally provided "Fail Open" solutions that bypass security in order to maintain network availability during an IPS failure. This type of solution provides maximum uptime, but does so at the cost of security. This is not ideal for large enterprise, university and service provider environments which are sensitive to network outages.

As an essential requirement for "best practices" enterprise IT operations, network security should not be traded off for network availability. When fail open solutions are used, networks become compromised, and security breaches may enter enterprise environments undetected. Reflex Security has designed its Redundant Clustering Architecture™ in order to provide intra-chassis IPS blade redundancy, maintaining maximum uptime, while ensuring maximum security.

"Reflex Security's solution for concurrent high availability with security is superior to the flawed 'Fail Open' approach used by other security vendors. Consider this analogy: if an X-Ray machine fails in one security lane at the airport, you don't allow the line of people to walk through un-inspected, simply to keep the traffic moving," said Jim Watson, CEO of Reflex Security. "The people in that line move to another lane with a functioning X-Ray. The cluster of inspection points still provides a high level of security."

This solution is the first and only IPS built on a clustering architecture called Distributed Security Architecture that leverages blades for high availability and performance gain.

Distributed Security Architecture is the top layer in an architecture that gives scalability and redundancy to Reflex Security's IPS solutions. This superior approach includes a number of building blocks such as Redundant Clustering Architecture, which delivers new methods to the redundancy approach of IPS systems.

Reflex Security's combination of Redundant Clustering Architecture and Distributed Security Architecture is uniquely integrated into the Reflex Security IPS MG Family: the industry's first multi-gigabit/blade-based IPS solutions for enterprise deployments. The company began shipping its first IPS MG systems on October 9, 2006. See the press release entitled Reflex Security First to Ship 10Gig IPS Solution at

"Reflex Security has developed this new functionality in direct response to strong demand from both our channel partners and from enterprise customers planning blade deployments for large scale networks. Furthermore, it eliminates a weakness in IPS offerings that has existed for years," said John Peterson, VP of Product Management of Reflex Security.
