Reminder: Canadian swims handcuffed 20 km, 16.5 hours for children's charity

Guinness Record Holder shatters his existing record by 14 km

Attention: Arts/Entertainment Editor, Media Editor, News Editor, Sports Editor, World News Editor SIHANOUKVILLE, CAMBODIA, MEDIA ADVISORY--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 16, 2007) - Finally, award winning Canadian filmmaker Matt Frame is satisfied. After a four month struggle to fulfill his dream of raising sufficient funds to school underprivileged children in Cambodia, Frame, 35, is ready to hang up the handcuffs.

"I am so relieved with the result" he explained "Not about the record but with the amount of money that has been raised. Thus far, we have enough to enroll over 150 students for the next calendar year."

After an initial 5.8km charity swim in which Frame earned the Handcuffed Swim World Record but little else, he teamed up with 'Help the Cambodian Children', a UK registered charity that specializes in the education of the town's most deprived kids. The result was a well orchestrated weekend event on the Gulf of Thailand shores, attracting hundreds of spectators.

"People on the beach watching him swim back and forth could not believe their eyes" says Henrik Olsson, Project Manager for Help the Cambodian Children, "A 20km swim over 16 hours... to be honest, I could not believe my own eyes."

Michael Spencer, School Secretary, added "Mad Matt is a swimming machine. I think the support and enthusiasm that was whipped up in the days before made him more determined to push himself to the absolute limit."

Frame, born and raised in Vancouver, agreed wholeheartedly with Spencer's assessment of the palpable energy on event day. "I went into the swim believing I had to rely solely on myself for motivation. I couldn't have been more mistaken - the support was amazing!"
