Renowned Geological Expert to Be Midlands' Technical Advisor on Sian/Praso, Ghana

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 3, 2010) - Midlands Minerals Corporation ("Midlands" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:MEX) is pleased to announce that Dr. David Groves, renowned geological expert, has agreed to provide consulting services as Technical Advisor to Midlands, focusing on exploration on the Sian and Kwahu Praso projects in Ghana. The Agreement was effective January 15, 2010.

As a leading expert on Ghanaian Gold Belts, Dr. Groves brings a wealth of exploration-targeting experience and, specifically, technical knowledge of structural geology and experience on the Ashanti Gold Belt where Midlands' Sian and Praso properties are located. He is a world leader in economic geology and the interpretation of geological structures, and has a broad knowledge of the major gold deposits in Ghana. He has recently been closely associated with a gold discovery in Tanzania within a new gold province.

"We are very pleased to have the benefit of David Groves' exceptionally broad experience and his insight and particularly his history of discovery, as we continue our strategic exploration on the Sian and Praso properties," said Kim Harris, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Professor Groves has spent over 30 years, first as a lecturer, then as a professor, at the University of Western Australia, 17 years of which he spent as a Director of Research Centres in Economic Geology, and Emeritus Professor at the Centre for Exploration Targeting (2006 to 2009).

During his academic career, David Groves co-authored over 500 geological and scientific publications and supervised over 200 PhD, MSc and BSc Honours students, some of whom are now in leadership positions in major mining companies. The David Groves Prize for Postgraduate Research in Geology is provided by the School of Earth and Environment, University of Western Australia, in acknowledgement of the great contribution made to the field of geology by David Groves in supervising and encouraging postgraduate research in geology and geophysics.

He has been awarded several medals for his research including the 2010 Penrose Gold Medal of the Society of Economic Geologists and he is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science.

David Groves has served on the Boards or acted as a Consultant to several major mining companies as well as to junior exploration companies, using his geological experience of mineral deposits on all continents and the conceptual targeting methodologies he helped to develop.

In the short-term, Midlands expects to increase and upgrade the indicated resource on Sian from 2.5 million tonnes grading 2.3 g/t and the inferred resource of 2.7 million tonnes grading 2.4 g/t, and to upgrade at least 30% of the resource to a measured category or better.

20,000 metres of RC (reverse circulation) infill drilling was recently announced by the Company, and the drilling is now underway, starting at the north extension of the Sian deposit.

Midlands is a growth oriented and value based gold exploration company operating in Ghana and Tanzania, two stable countries with a history of gold mining. Midlands' top priority project is the fully permitted Sian gold project in Ghana. The Sian property contains Esaase and Ampeha, two previously producing open pit mines with a resource with significant growth potential. Midlands' contiguous Kwahu Praso project, which was once part of Sian, contains extensions of the Esaase and Ampeha trends. Sian and Praso are just 30 kilometres northeast of Newmont Mining's +8.7 million ounce Akyem gold deposit. Midlands also holds highly prospective licences for gold and diamonds in the Lake Victoria Goldfields in Tanzania.

The Company has a highly qualified management and technical team with broad African experience and extensive experience in the countries in which the Company operates. For more information on the Company, please visit Midlands' website at www.midlandsminerals.com.
