Rhode Island Senior Senator Jack Reed (D) to Address Life Settlements at Washington Spring Conference

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - April 21, 2010) - Next week, the Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA) welcomes senior senator from Rhode Island, Jack Reed, to deliver the keynote address at its 16th Annual Spring Life Settlement Conference in D.C. The senator's appearance comes at a critical time in the young history of the life settlement industry. In recent months, the industry has experienced an unprecedented level of federal interest and inquiry. Responding to industry calls for a fresh perspective from inside the beltway, LISA secured Sen. Reed's appearance on Thursday, April 29th.

"We're certainly honored to welcome the senior senator from Rhode Island to our spring meeting," said Doug Head, LISA Executive Director. "As chairman of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs sub-committee on Securities, Insurance and Investment, Sen. Reed's appearance should shed considerable light on the implications of the current interest on Capitol Hill."

Since April 2009, when the Senate Special Committee on Aging convened an informational hearing on life settlements, questions of federal oversight and changes to insurance regulation have loomed large in the industry. Sen. Reed's appearance offers the life settlement community a singular opportunity to gain essential insight into recent Congressional activity. Broadly regarded as a fierce advocate for consumer rights, Sen. Reed has a long and distinguished record of public service both in United States Senate as well as in his home state legislature. In 2008, Sen. Reed convincingly won reelection to the U.S. Senate garnering some 74% of the vote.

The Spring Conference convenes April 28-30 in Washington, D.C. To register for this important event or to view the complete agenda, simply visit the conference website at: http://www.thevoiceoftheindustry.com/lifesettlementconference/2010/16spring/index.htm.
