Riverbed to Showcase IT Performance Solutions at Storage Networking World Spring

Company Executive and Customer to Present the Cost Savings, Efficiency and Performance Benefits of Utilizing Riverbed WAN Optimization in Cloud Environments

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - April 5, 2010) - Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT performance company, today announced its upcoming participation at Computerworld Storage Networking World Spring 2010, taking place April 12-15 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, FL. Storage Networking World is the world's largest and foremost storage networking event, where IT management and professionals learn, network and maximize their company's storage capabilities. At the conference, Riverbed® customer Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Division, and Riverbed technical director Josh Tseng will each present on the significance of wide area network (WAN) optimization solutions in cloud and consolidated IT environments.

Enterprises leverage Riverbed WAN optimization to improve remote and mobile employee productivity, enable private clouds, and provide enterprise-wide network and application visibility. By speeding the performance of applications, in some cases by up to 100 times, Riverbed Steelhead® products also enable companies to improve backup and replication processes to ensure data integrity. Many enterprises have deployed Riverbed Steelhead appliances to accelerate disaster recovery (DR) initiatives, as replication has emerged as a preferred choice for more frequent and seamless protection of storage between data centers. With Riverbed, customers get a fast, simple and reliable approach to eliminate tapes and optimize backup across the current WAN to the datacenter, resulting in faster replication while utilizing less WAN bandwidth for enhanced storage and DR capabilities.

At Storage Networking World Spring, attendees will learn about the impact Riverbed WAN optimization can have on consolidated and cloud environments, as well as DR, by visiting booth #116. Conference-goers can also attend the following sessions:

What:   "Data Protection Strategies at the Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Division"
Who:   Gerry Holmes, Director, Information Technology, Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Division
When:   Monday, April 12, 2010
    2:50-3:35 p.m.
Where:   Rosen Shingle Creek Resort, Orlando, FL

The Canadian Cancer Society is a national organization working toward the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer. The Ontario Division is one of 11 autonomous divisions that rely on a private cloud environment that includes its disaster recovery infrastructure. The Ontario Division of Canadian Cancer Society moved to a private cloud environment to gain efficiencies, improve manageability and realize cost savings. In this session, Holmes will discuss how WAN optimization has enabled the division to optimize data transfer over the WAN, and dramatically improve replication times and data backup processes.

What:   "Cloud and Emerging Technologies: WAN Optimization and Cloud Computing"
Who:   Josh Tseng, Technical Director, Riverbed
When:   Monday, April 12, 2010
    1:00-1:45 p.m.
Where:   Rosen Shingle Creek Resort, Orlando, FL

Cloud computing promises to deliver potential gains in efficiency and cost savings by consolidating IT assets into public and private data centers. However, cloud-hosted information assets must still be accessed by users over existing WAN infrastructures, where there are performance issues due to bandwidth and latency constraints. In this session, Mr. Tseng will explain why WAN optimization is a necessary component of cloud computing to resolve performance problems and how it can facilitate future adoption of the public cloud, including the acceleration of cloud storage.
