Riverstone Commences Third Drilling Program on Kao

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 1, 2007) - Riverstone Resources Inc. (the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:RVS) is pleased to report that a third drilling program has commenced on the Company's KAO property in western Burkina Faso, West Africa. A minimum of 5,000 metres of Reverse Circulation ("RC") drilling will be drilled on the KAO property, where the Company's recent RC drill programs have intersected wide zones of gold mineralization (See News Releases September 12, 2007, April 4th and 16, 2007). Drilling highlights include 1.47 g/t gold over 50 metres and 1.63 g/t gold over 34 metres. In addition, 2,000 metres of RC drilling will be carried out in late October on the Company's Yaramoko property, also in western Burkina Faso.

The drilling to date on KAO has partially defined a large gold zone within a four kilometre long geochemical anomaly. The gold zone is at or near surface, appears to be near horizontal and has been traced over an area that is at least 300 metres by 300 metres. The zone is open to the north, east and west. Initial indications are that it may also continue to the south at a slightly deeper level. Based on these encouraging results, the Company has commenced a third phase of RC drilling to in-fill and expand the gold zone. Approximately 50 holes will be drilled with the first results expected in early November.

The Company's Yaramoko project is located in western Burkina Faso in the Hounde Greenstone belt. The permit adjoins Semafo's Mana property on its southern boundary. The Mana deposit is reported to contain a reserve of nearly 1,000,000 ounces of gold and is scheduled to be in operation by the end of the year.

Mapping and sampling by the Company on the Yaramoko permit has defined several quartz-bearing mineralized zones over a strike length of 4 kilometres. Significant rock chip samples ranged in value from 1.52 g/t gold to 11.86 g/t gold. A minimum of 2,000 metres of drilling comprising approximately 20 holes will be carried out to test this promising target.

The Company maintains a rigorous quality control program involving the use of repeat assays, check assays at independent labs, inserted blanks, and the use of verifiable standards from an accredited Canadian lab. All RC samples were assayed using standard fire assay with atomic absorption techniques, with samples grading in excess of 2.00 g/t gold re-assayed with a gravimetric finish, at the independent Abilab Burkina SARL laboratories in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, which is part of the ALS Chemex group.
