Rochester Energy Corp. Announces Acquisition of 15-Year Oil Sands Leases at Crown Land Sale

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 11, 2007) - Rochester Energy Corp. ("Rochester") is pleased to announce today that pursuant to the January 10th, 2007 Alberta Crown Land Sale, Rochester has secured leases on two parcels of land located in Township 97 Range 15 W4 totaling approximately 11,386 acres. These leases are 15-year oil sands leases with Rochester holding a 100% interest in the leases. The acquired lands are located approximately 40 miles northwest of Fort McMurray, Alberta, and approximately 16 miles west of the Joslyn Creek Project which has "2 billion barrels of bitumen over 30 years" as estimated in a press release dated August 2, 2005, by Josyln Creek Project's operator: Total E&P Canada.

In the coming months, Rochester will be further evaluating the lands with a view to proceeding with an exploratory drill program to delineate the oil sands resource potential on the acquired lease land.

Rochester is a junior oil and gas company with head offices in Calgary, Alberta and is a reporting issuer in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario. Rochester's primary focus is the acquisition of oil sands properties in Western Canada.

Common Shares of Rochester are not posted for trading on any stock exchange and are currently subject to cease trade orders in British Columbia and Ontario.
