Ruckus Wireless Inks Deal With Communications Supply Service Association to Help U.S. Providers Move Digital Content Around the Home

CSSA to Supply Ruckus Wireless In-Home Multimedia Systems to Extensive Membership of U.S.-Based Rural Telcos

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 3, 2006 -- Ruckus Wireless and Communications Supply Service Association (CSSA) today announced that they have entered into an agreement under which CSSA will market, stock and sell the Ruckus Wireless MediaFlex in-home smart Wi-Fi system to member provider companies.

CSSA is a strategic alliance of independent telephone companies located throughout the U.S. Formed in 1976, CSSA has grown to serve over 200 member companies in 44 states. As a leading industry supplier, CSSA helps members enhance revenue streams by ensuring access to a best-in-class portfolio of products, services and training programs. CSSA is a major provider of wireless hospitality, enterprise and CPE Wi-Fi solutions to their Independent Operating Company (IOC) members and affiliates. Ruckus Wireless will be an addition to the in-home wireless CPE portfolio offered by CSSA.

"Our members have needed technology like this for a long, long time," said Scott Davison, vice president of strategic product development for CSSA. "Solving the in-home distribution problem has been a big hurdle for providers, and we really didn't think traditional Wi-Fi would ever be made reliable enough.

"Extending next-generation, IP-based digital services in the home is a major issue for broadband providers. Ideally, a no-wire solution that is reliable enough to support IPTV is what providers and subscribers want. Ruckus Wireless has overcome the technical obstacles that, up to now, effectively prohibited Wi-Fi from serving this purpose in the home," Davison concluded.

Over the last 90 days, some two dozen U.S.-based rural telcos have selected the Ruckus MediaFlex product to support the extension of broadband services, such as IPTV, into subscriber homes.

"The smaller U.S. telcos are clearly taking the lead in delivering higher bandwidth and new digital services to consumers," said Bob Payne, vice president of business development for Ruckus Wireless. "Over the last quarter we've literally been inundated by independent telcos actively rolling out IPTV and we need a better, more cost-effective solution for extending these services into the home. Our relationship with CSSA helps us scale product distribution while enabling us to offer a higher level of service and support from an organization recognized for their service excellence."
