Ryder Ranks 25th on InformationWeek 500 List

Ryder Ranks 25th Overall for Technological Innovation and 2nd in the Transportation and Logistics Industry Category

MIAMI, FL--(Marketwire - October 2, 2007) - Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a global leader in transportation and supply chain management solutions, today announced that it ranked 25th on the 2007 InformationWeek 500. The ranking was revealed recently at a gala awards ceremony, part of the exclusive InformationWeek 500 conference in Tucson, Arizona.

Ryder ranked 25th overall and 2nd among its peers in the transportation and logistics category. In 2006, Ryder was ranked 41st overall and 5th in its industry category.

"Ryder is pleased to be recognized by InformationWeek for the ninth consecutive year for our leadership and innovation providing technology solutions for the transportation and supply chain industries," said Dr. Kevin Bott, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Ryder. "I am proud of our IT team around the world. Their dedication and commitment to driving process improvements and value throughout our customers' supply chains has contributed to our ranking. We thank InformationWeek for this outstanding honor."

As part of the survey for the ranking, InformationWeek evaluated two Ryder technology initiatives that were innovative, delivered business value and improved productivity. The first was Ryder's use of telematics technology, RydeSmart, an onboard wireless communications system to improve vehicle uptime, driver efficiency, highway safety, cargo security, and real-time tracking of customer fleet operations. The second initiative was the creation of a new "purpose-built" delivery system for which Ryder designed and operated customized information technology systems to provide order visibility, transportation management, inventory management, order-to-cash delivery process, vehicle and facility security. Ryder also engineered the entire integration of this technology.

"We'd like to extend our sincere congratulations to all InformationWeek 500 honorees. These companies represent today's leading technology innovators, many of whom have joined us this week," said InformationWeek Vice President and Publisher, John Siefert. "This group has prompted fascinating discussion on some of the most forward-looking business technology initiatives to date."

For nearly 20 years, InformationWeek has identified and honored the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual listing. The list is unique among corporate rankings because it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
