SABEW's Best in Business Contest Starts Receiving Entries Jan. 4

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - January 4, 2010) - Chances are that SABEW members didn't receive any journalism awards in their stockings over the holidays, but that wasn't because none of them had been good in 2009.

In fact, many were very, very good at producing top-quality business journalism, and starting today are eligible to enter the society's Best in Business contest.

The completely paperless contest -- a first for SABEW, although a percentage of entries were received online in recent years -- will honor the best of business journalism published, broadcast or posted in 2009.

"The easier online process is something we hope will encourage more members to enter," said contest chair and SABEW board member Beth Hunt, manager of editorial operations for American City Business Journals. "We also offer a discount on entry fees for those who enter by our early deadline of Jan. 13, so it literally pays to enter early," she said.

To enter, please go to https://membership.sabew.org/contest/entries/

Here are some highlights of contest rules and procedures. For more information, please go to http://sabew.org/best-in-business/:

-- Entries must be made as pdf files or (for Web sites) permalinks. The
early entry deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 13; those who enter on or before
that date are rewarded with reduced entry fees. The regular contest entry
    deadline is Monday, Jan. 25.

-- Entrants must state their institutions' sizes in one of several
categories. Any entrant who disagrees with the size his or her institution
been assigned or with our distinction between real time and online, please
contact Vicki Edwards at (573) 882-2878 or edwardsvk@sabew.org.

-- Each entrant's membership status must also be current in order to
enter. Members with renewal dates of Jan. 1, 2010, or earlier whose
membership dues have not yet been paid, will have to renew being able to
enter. Renewals can be completed online at http://sabew.org/join.

Those who are unsure of their institutions' membership is current may contact Edwards. Entries must be accompanied by payment by credit card. SABEW accepts MasterCard, VISA and Discover.
