SENSIO Submits to the USPTO a Request for Continued Examination for its US Patent

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - June 1, 2009) - SENSIO Technologies inc. ("SENSIO") (TSX VENTURE:SIO), inventor of the SENSIO® 3D technology, filed a Request for Continued Examination in its US patent application that the US Patent and Trademark Office ("USPTO") published as patent number 7,539,250. The purpose of this request was to have recently discovered patent documents considered by the USPTO, and the patent application is now pending. This patent application covers a core aspect of the SENSIO® 3D technology.

US patent law requires full disclosure to the USPTO of information that could be material to the decision of patentability. Failure to comply with such full disclosure can place the validity of the resulting US patent in question. After the allowance of the US patent application, SENSIO was made aware of foreign patent publication references during the course of the examination of its corresponding patent application in Japan. Confirmation of patentability of the US patent application in light of these foreign patent publications will serve to strengthen the resulting US patent.

"We have revised and examined these prior art documents which originated from the examination of our corresponding patent request from Japan and, jointly with our patent agent, we have determined that these were not adequately relevant to be required to be submitted to the USPTO. However, given the strategic importance of the patent, we want to remove any doubt relating to its strength and have therefore submitted the documents to the examiner's office in order to mitigate any risks. We are confident that after the examination of these new documents, the American examiner will re-confirm the patentability of our invention", stated Nicholas Routhier, President and CEO of SENSIO.

This SENSIO patent application covers its technology for distribution and formatting for stereoscopic content for various 2D and 3D displays. It actually covers the method by which it was developed and commercialized over the past years which enables the distribution of 3D content over existing 2D distribution channels.

Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Montreal, Canada, SENSIO develops and markets forward-looking stereoscopic technologies designed to offer the most advanced and immersive cinematographic experience available. Its flagship technology, SENSIO®3D, allows the high-quality distribution of 3D content through conventional 2D channels and playback on any display device, including plasma TVs, HDTV and glass-free 3D displays. Working with major Hollywood studios and large format 3D film producers, SENSIO has built up one of the world's largest libraries of 3D movies for the home entertainment market.
