SHOP.COM™ Survey Shows Easter Favorites: Chocolate Indulgences, Easter Bunny, Cash Surprises

MONTEREY, CA--(Marketwire - April 1, 2010) -  An Easter egg hunt with brightly colored, candy-filled eggs might be the norm this coming Sunday. But, an Easter survey by SHOP.COM, the comparison shopping site for busy women, shows 64 percent of respondents would prefer to find money in their Easter egg rather than candy or traditional trinkets. However, tradition holds firm when it comes to the Easter bunny. The SHOP.COM survey shows nearly four out of 10 adults claim they still believe in the childhood fantasy of the furry holiday mascot.

Other favorite Easter traditions include giving Easter baskets (20 percent) and going to church (17 percent). Food-minded respondents (about one-quarter) cited the family dinner as their favorite Easter tradition. And, what Easter eats are the best? Fifty percent named chocolate treats -- bunnies, eggs, anything chocolate. A savory baked ham was chosen by 35 percent of Easter celebrants, followed by marshmallow peeps (19 percent); jelly beans (17 percent); and crème eggs (15 percent).

Easter Sunday Looks
Pastels and florals will be the "go to" looks featured this Easter Sunday, according to 63 percent of survey respondents. Among nonconformists in the group, 12 percent said skinny jeans are appropriate as Easter attire, and six percent of survey takers said they will pass up color and wear all black.
