SNIP SNIP GIVE 2010: A Blo "24-Hour Cut-A-Thon" to Benefit InterAct

RALEIGH, NC--(Marketwire - January 25, 2010) - One salon, 16 stylists and 24 hours of haircuts to make a giant impact for area domestic violence survivors. The popular salon, Blo, will host its "24-Hour Cut-A-Thon" on January 31 and February 1 to raise money for InterAct, which provides safety and support to survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault. The Blo design team will work in shifts for 24 hours, providing haircuts for a minimum donation of $40. One hundred percent of funds raised go to InterAct. This high-energy event raised more than $13,000 last year.

The Blo design team selected InterAct as this year's recipient because of its importance to area domestic violence survivors. "Each year, our staff researches numerous area charities and selects one where we can focus our energies and make a huge impact. The team chose InterAct, because we're passionate about their mission," said Bryan Nunes, founder of Blo.

Appointments are currently being booked by phone: (919) 484-8600. Walk-ins also are welcome, even at the most unusual hours. More than 600 people have participated in Blo's "24-Hour Cut-A-Thon" in its first two years to raise $25,000 for area nonprofits. Participants have even traveled from Virginia to take part.

Blo will hold a raffle with the grand prize winner receiving free haircuts for a year. Participants benefit from discounts on all Redken hair care products, styling tools and accessories. All monies generated from the haircuts, gratuities, raffle and retail sales are donated to InterAct.
