SOS Children's Village BC: German Fan Fest Gives Back to Lower Mainland Kids by Auctioning THE Classic East German Olympic Party Trabant to Raise Funds for Local BC Charity...

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 26, 2010) - An exciting conclusion to two amazing weeks of the German Fan Fest will occur on Sunday February 28th, 2010 at 3pm. After going through over 25,000 litres of beer and thousands of bratwurst the pavilion is closing down. The fest has been a huge success with long line-ups stretching out the door and down to the doors of Waterfront Station. SOS Children's Village BC is very proud to be selected as the charity of choice for the pavilion. The organizers of the German Fan Fest have been outstanding community partners, modelling Canadian-German social responsibility, giving back to the community.

Mr Barry Scott of Maynards will preside over a thrilling auction of three amazing and unique items. The classic Trabant includes an in-house bar and beer taps at the rear, and is the epitome of fuel efficiency… for less than $20 you can drive 400km without a pee brake!

An icon of Eastern European industry, this car is great for Canadian winters, as it is made of Duroplast and is resistant to rust. In addition, this classic will be signed by members of the German Olympic team, the multiple Olympic Medal Winner, Gunda Niemann-Stirnemann and the Prime Minister of the German province Thuringen, Christine Lieberknecht.

Also up for auction are two trips to visit Thuringen, Germany including flights for two people, hotel accommodation and activities. Each trip is worth $6,500 and will allow the winners to enjoy the stunning scenery and food in one of the most beautiful parts of Germany.

The auction will start at 3pm following the Men's Gold Medal Hockey Game at German Fan Fest (located at 555 West Cordova Street in Vancouver). Members of the German Olympic Team will also be in attendance and available for pictures. The capacity crowd in the pavilion will enjoy the opportunity to meet these Olympians and to get autographs and pictures. Partial proceeds from the live auction will go to support SOS Children's Village BC, the only village in Canada.
