Saab Training USA Supports Joint Forces Command Exercise, Bold Quest 2009, With Ground Position Location Information

Saab Training USA Participates in Bold Quest 2009 Coalition Exercise to Improve Situation Awareness Among Warfighters

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - January 12, 2010) - Saab Training USA (STKM: SAAB.B) participated in the United States Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) exercise, Bold Quest 2009, by providing Ground Position Location Information (GPLI) for ground units with their Instrumented-Tactical Engagement Simulation System (I-TESS). I-TESS was used among Bold Quest participants to enhance situation awareness and provide precise identification of every player with acute accuracy.

I-TESS is a member of Saab's Deployable Instrumented Training Systems (DITS) family of live training products that provides laser-based force-on-force training with GPLI reporting, battle tracking, data collection and rapid After-Action Reviews (AAR). I-TESS offers real-time situational awareness, exercise control capabilities, and adjudication of direct and indirect fire engagements to help facilitate the training exercise objectives. Exercise players at Bold Quest utilized data from I-TESS to clearly define ground situations and track friendly forces, opposing forces and even simulated "downed" pilots.

"We greatly appreciate the outstanding support provided by the U.S. Marine Corps and the Saab Training USA instrumentation team," said Todd Walter, Instrumentation Lead for Bold Quest 2009. "The team was extremely effective in attaining positive results, thanks to their dedication and professionalism."

This year, Bold Quest was conducted from Oct. 27 to Nov. 5, 2009 at Camp Lejuene, N.C. Participants included the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Special Operations Command and ten foreign coalition forces -- altogether teaming nearly 1,000 service members together in a unified environment. While Bold Quest is held annually with the purpose of strengthening warfighters' ability to effectively engage targets, it further serves to diminish -- and possibly eliminate -- fratricide.

"Participating in Bold Quest 2009 was exciting for us and an excellent opportunity to highlight I-TESS's capability for providing a completely accurate picture of any ground campaign," said Ken Polczynski, Saab Training USA's U.S. Marine Corps Program Manager.
