Sacramento Outreach Adult Recovery (SOAR) Center Invites Community to Open House at New Location

Telecare and Sacramento County Division of Behavioral Health Services Leaders to Speak on Program That Enables Residents With Serious Mental Illness to Achieve Greater Independence

SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwire - April 12, 2010) -  The community is invited to an open house for the Sacramento Outreach Adult Recovery (SOAR) program on Wednesday, April 14, from 2 to 4 p.m., at 900 Fulton Street, Sacramento.

SOAR -- managed by Telecare Corporation, a mental health services company based in Alameda, Calif. -- opened at its current location in January 2010. Under contract with the Sacramento County Division of Behavioral Health Services, SOAR serves up to 150 members who may otherwise need expensive inpatient treatment or stays in a locked state Institution for Mental Disease (IMD), but who are able to benefit from less restrictive and more efficient community-based care. The program is an extension of a service model that Sacramento County Division of Behavioral Health Services has operated in partnership with community providers for several years.

"The SOAR program is an important part of the community and Telecare is proud to partner with Sacramento County to offer these essential services for individuals who are learning to make personal choices and gain the skills needed to live more independently," said Dennis Dow, MFT, Program Administrator. "The success of SOAR involves not only our professional staff, but family, friends and the community in which our members are seeking to live more meaningful lives."

Telecare leaders, including President and CEO Anne Bakar, as well as Sacramento Division of Behavioral Health Services representatives, will be on hand to greet the community and comment on SOAR's innovative approach to serving individuals with persistent, serious mental illness who have the ability to live more independently and avoid long-term hospitalization.

Telecare Corporation, based in Alameda, California, is one of the largest providers of mental health services in the country. Telecare works in partnership with local, county, state and other behavioral healthcare organizations to design and provide recovery-focused services for high-risk individuals. Telecare is an employee and family-owned company with over 2,100 employees and more than 60 programs in California, Texas, Oregon, Nebraska, North Carolina and Washington.
