The upgrade to SafeBoot's award-winning technology offers many new features that enhance performance, improve security and enrich the user experience.

The protection of data assets is a primary concern facing today's organizations. SafeBoot Device Encryption is a scalable, enterprise-wide security solution that uses strong access control and powerful encryption to prevent unauthorized access to or use of desktops, laptops, tablet PCs, PDAs, and other portable devices, removable storage drives and media, and more.

-- Full Microsoft® Windows Vista™ 32-bit and 64-bit compatibility

SafeBoot® Device Encryption™ version 5.1 is fully compatible with Windows Vista™ 32-bit and 64-bit editions. As with previous versions of Windows, SafeBoot Device Encryption provides full support for encrypted hibernation and suspend modes. These operations are handled efficiently with no loss of security. SafeBoot Device Encryption authenticates both users and machines prior to the PC restarting.

-- Unmatched auditing and reporting capabilities

SafeBoot Device Encryption's auditing facilities are unmatched in the market and can be used to prove compliance with most legislation. With SafeBoot, proving that data on a hard disk was encrypted at the time of loss or theft is performed simply and efficiently with a customized graphical report. Data is available via API, scripting and GUI interfaces.

-- New look to enhance usability

At the center of all SafeBoot products and services are SafeBoot's management and administrative capabilities. The Management Center interface has been rebuilt in a modern, Windows look and feel, allowing for customization to improve the user experience and increase user acceptance and usability. The pre-boot operating system now supports high resolution in true color for a rich user experience.

-- Global language and keyboard support

With the increased global perspective of today's enterprise companies, SafeBoot Device Encryption now supports multiple languages and interfaces simultaneously. Although the system selects pre-boot language and keyboard support based on the current OS selection, users can, at any stage, switch SafeBoot to one of 40 languages, including Japanese, Korean, Chinese and others. Version 5.1 provides more than 150 keyboard layouts.

-- Faster encryption technology with support for removable media

SafeBoot's initial one-time disk encrypt function now performs two to four times faster than previous versions. Encryption is transparent to the user and performed on-the-fly with minimal performance impact to end-users and no degradation in system performance. The encryption can also extend to removable media such as USB / Firewire hard disks, ensuring these portable devices are protected as well.

-- New pre-boot operating system

The SafeBoot version 5.1 pre-boot environment uses a complete 32-bit operating system customized by SafeBoot to provide full USB support for smart card readers, USB tokens, components for touch screens, tablet displays, mice and other HID devices. The new SafeBoot device encryption currently supports more smart cards, tokens and other authentication technologies than any other device encryption system in the market.

-- Enhanced integration with third-party directories including Active Directory

SafeBoot mirrors the Windows GPO rules to ensure that SafeBoot applications and Windows maintain matching password constructs. SafeBoot connector technology automatically creates groups of users based on the ADS groups.

-- Common Criteria EAL-4 and BITS Certification

SafeBoot version 5 is Common Criteria EAL4 certified and has earned BITS compliance. SafeBoot continues to demonstrate its commitment to continually undergo rigorous evaluation processes by independent, third-party testing facilities to assure conformance to certification criteria.
