SafeHands and Major Distributors Join Hands in Haitian Relief Effort

SafeHands to Donate SafeHands® Instant Hand Sanitizer in Earthquake Ravaged Country

BOCA RATON, FL--(Marketwire - January 18, 2010) - SafeHands today announced it will provide its SafeHands® brand instant hand sanitizer to relief efforts in Haiti following the devastation caused by the recent earthquake.

"Aside from the fact this is a disaster of the highest order and everyone should be pitching in, there are more than 275,000 Haitian-Americans living in South Florida," said Dr. Jay Reubens, founder and president of SafeHands. "We must do what we can to help our friends and neighbors in their time of need."

Red Cross officials say the death toll from the earthquake could reach as many as 50,000.

"One of the biggest concerns following a devastation of this magnitude is the potential for the spread of disease," said Reubens. "One of the best ways to prevent the spread of germs is to be vigilant about keeping your hands clean. While hand-washing with soap and water is typically an excellent alternative to instant hand sanitizers, in environmental disasters such as this tragic earthquake, clean water is typically at a premium, or entirely unavailable."

SafeHands® proprietary formula uses an FDA approved germ-killing agent that has been scientifically tested and proven superior to alcohol-based products in killing germs, while also being non-drying, skin soothing and non-flammable. SafeHands® has presented scientific data that shows that the frequency and use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers actually has an inverse relationship with germ killing and contamination.

Through its relationship with Sysco and McKesson, two of the nation's giants in food service and healthcare products distribution, SafeHands is also committed to providing financial support to the Haitian relief effort. "We are particularly pleased to have a vast network of distribution through McKesson and Sysco, and we want to leverage these relationships to support the people of Haiti during this critical time," added Reubens. In addition to SafeHands' immediate product donation, SafeHands will also donate $1 to the Haiti Relief Effort for every case of hand sanitizer product purchased through any of its major distributors.
