Sandvine Launches Into Wireless and Announces Two Carrier Wins

Solutions Boost Network Visibility and Enhance Subscriber Quality of Experience

WATERLOO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 10, 2008) - Sandvine, (TSX:SVC)(AIM:SAND) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for DSL, FTTH, 3G wireless and WiMAX providers, today announced the introduction of its PTS 14000, 10-Gigabit Ethernet platform to mobile data and wireless providers. Sandvine also announced two carrier wins: one with a national property of a pan-European mobile and DSL operator and another with a North American WiMAX carrier.

Designed to meet the needs of the largest tier one providers in the world, Sandvine's PTS 14000 now gives mobile data and wireless providers visibility into their network traffic to fairly allocate network resources and enhance quality of service for multimedia IP-based applications. With a suite of intelligent broadband network solutions including traffic management, network integrity and service creation, Sandvine can optimize wireless networks for subscriber applications, protect subscribers and enhance their quality of experience.

"Mobile and wireless data subscribers are realizing the potential to access the Internet on their mobile devices and are taking their favorite online multimedia applications with them wherever they go. Whether it's downloading peer-to-peer files or surfing the Internet, Sandvine is enabling greater mobility by giving service providers intelligent broadband tools to better understand the traffic on their network and apply policies that help allocate resources to enhance the online subscriber experience," said Sandvine President and CEO, Dave Caputo.

With this entry into the wireless space, Sandvine announced the win of a European and a North American customer. The European win is a national property of a pan-European provider that has over a half-million DSL subscribers and approximately 5 million mobile subscribers. The North American WiMAX customer has over 200,000 subscribers. These customers commenced deployment of the 10-Gbps PTS 14000 platform in Q4 2007.

"We are excited to continue broadening our reach into the global service provider market," said Sandvine Executive Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Tom Donnelly. "The leading European operator has a strong footprint with fixed and mobile customers across several European properties. Both customers have recognized the increase in data traffic on their mobile, WiMax and DSL networks and are making an investment in Sandvine solutions to ensure subscribers continue to experience the highest quality of experience."

With hundreds of units deployed in over 20 service provider networks, the PTS 14000 is the most proven intelligent broadband network solution to intersect 10-Gigabit Ethernet links-the new standard in Ethernet interconnects.

Sandvine's award-winning network equipment helps DSL, FTTH, cable and wireless broadband service providers characterize what is really happening on their networks, enabling polices that improve customer satisfaction, reduce operational costs and increase profitability. Sandvine's DPI-based policy solutions are both application and subscriber-aware, empowering service providers to better manage network traffic congestion, mitigate the proliferation of malicious traffic, and deliver QoS-prioritized multimedia services. With more than 90 customers in over 40 countries, Sandvine is enhancing the Internet experience for millions of broadband users worldwide.
