Sapient Financial Group Launches Career Development Program for New College Grads

San Antonio Financial Services Firm Wants to Hire Fifteen New College Graduates in 2010

SAN ANTONIO, TX--(Marketwire - December 4, 2009) - In a job market that's been particularly gloomy for new college graduates, Sapient Financial Group's launch of GET THERE™, a three year career development program designed to equip new graduates for careers as financial professionals, is a welcome bright spot.

The program, based in San Antonio, TX, will offer intensive product and skill-set training along with the opportunity to work side by side with a veteran advisor. Classes begin January 11th, 2010, with more scheduled to start in June and August. The firm aims to have fifteen new graduates participate in 2010.

"Providing such comprehensive training and mentoring is a big upfront investment for us," said Frank Woodruff, Sapient Financial Group's CEO. "But by building a pipeline of talent, we aim to ensure that our firm will be serving this community for another fifty six years -- and beyond."

Sapient Financial Group know that a career in financial services can be daunting for some new graduates, but stress that with good training and mentoring, success is achievable.

"The stereotypical fifty-ish male advisor does nothing to encourage young college grads to consider this career straight from college -- Who would take financial advice from a fresh-faced twenty-something, right?" said Tom Zanovich, Sapient Financial Group's Managing Director leading the program.

But Zanovich, who embarked on the career right after graduating from SMU, Dallas points out, "Statistics show that more than half of the most successful financial advisors started in the business straight from college."

Zanovich is also the first to admit that some folks are just not cut out for this career. He encourages candidates to ask themselves the following questions to establish if they've got the right characteristics to be happy and successful at it:

1. Do you believe the importance of protecting your financial future?
2. Do you have an entrepreneurial flair?
3. Are you resilient and able to handle challenges and rejection?
4. Are you a high achiever with a high level of energy?
5. Do you (truly) enjoy networking?
6. Are you self motivated and disciplined?
7. Do you care about people, the community and always willing to put client
   needs first at all times?
8. Are you coachable?

If you are a good fit. There may be no better time to enter the career adds Woodruff.

"Consumer's panic about the economy has been downgraded to fear -- a healthy fear that's motivating intelligent Americans to look at their savings, investments and retirement planning. We're coming out of the deepest recession since the depression and it's a great time for young people to be on the leading edge of the recovery."
