The 2007 Directors Guild of Canada Awards brought out the film and television industry's best and brightest to last night's event at The Carlu in Toronto. The star-studded celebration kicked-off with a cocktail reception before funnyman Peter Keleghan inaugurated the sixth annual awards ceremony to honour the best work created by DGC members last year.

"I am honoured to be a member of the Directors Guild of Canada and share in this evening when we celebrate our own talent," says Norman Jewison. The acclaimed director handed out the evening's top prize to Sarah Polley, for her direction of the highly praised feature film Away From Her.

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to pioneering director, Paul Almond (Seven Up, Isabel, October Beach).

Guests, nominees and award presenters included: Norman Jewison, Sarah Polley, Clement Virgo, Wendy Crewson, Tim Southam, Gordon Pinsent, Erik Canuel, Carlo Rota, Sheila McCarthy, Tonya Lee Williams, Sturla Gunnarsson, John L'Ecuyer, Allan King, Shawn Alex Thompson, George Mihalka, and Michael Kennedy.
