Sauce Labs Announces Sauce RC (Remote Control) 1.0 for Cross-Browser Functional Testing

Free Sauce RC Download Makes Selenium Testing Easy

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - February 12, 2010) - Sauce Labs (http://www.saucelabs.com), the Selenium Company, today announced the release of Sauce RC (Remote Control) 1.0 -- a commercially supported Selenium distribution that is easy to install, runs on all the latest browser releases, is available as a free download, and comes with access to expert support directly from the people who built Selenium.

Selenium RC is part of the popular (more than 2.5 million downloads) Selenium functional testing framework for web applications. Being a developer-focused tool, Selenium RC requires a certain effort and skill to install, configure and maintain. Sauce RC provides all the power of Selenium RC, and makes installation and configuration a snap. Configuration of Sauce RC is done via a simple web interface, which allows for powerful remote administration of test servers.

"Sauce RC 1.0 is best suited for web application developers and QA folks who are familiar with unit testing and Continuous Integration, but haven't yet incorporated automated functional testing into their CI process," said Steve Hazel, Senior Director of Development at Sauce Labs. "Bottom line, it makes automated cross-browser functional testing with Selenium achievable and maintainable for a broader section of the market."

Sauce RC 1.0 includes an installer and a taskbar widget for easier server control. Also, Sauce RC 1.0 can integrate with Sauce OnDemand to run tests in parallel in the cloud, freeing users of the headache and drudgery of establishing and maintaining a change-intensive, dedicated testing infrastructure of their own.

"Cross-browser testing using Sauce Labs allows us to focus on building great software without worrying about breaking browser compatibility," said Amit Kumar, VP of Engineering at Betable. "Sauce RC helps us incorporate additional cross-browser testing into our existing continuous integration testing infrastructure."

Sauce RC 1.0 is now freely available for download at http://saucelabs.com/products/downloads.
