Save the Children Finds New Donors for Haiti Emergency Through Text Messaging

Donate $10 by Texting "SAVE" to 20222 (US only)

WESTPORT, CT--(Marketwire - January 16, 2010) - Save the Children says text messaging is creating a new wave of donors for the Haiti emergency. By texting the word "SAVE" to 20222, supporters within the U.S. will have a quick and tech-savvy way to directly impact the lives of children suffering through the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake.

"We expect this to be the most significant donor response since the tsunami," says Anne-Marie Grey, Vice President of Resource Development. "SMS text messaging is helping to make the donation process more streamlined, so we can get aid to children and families more quickly."

"We're moving into a new era of mobile philanthropy where anyone from anywhere can participate," said Ettore Rossetti, Acting Senior Director for Internet Communications and Marketing. "Text donations are one more step towards the future and that future is now."

Anyone with a cell phone can now get involved and help the people of Haiti. Standard text messaging rates apply.
