"Saw" Co-Creator and Director James Wan to Direct Platinum Studios' Graphic Novel "Nightfall"

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - August 26, 2010) -  Platinum Studios, Inc. (OTCBB: PDOS), one of the largest comic books rights houses that controls an international library of more than 5,000 comic book characters and William Stuart's Aurora Productions have partnered with director James Wan to bring Platinum Studios' graphic novel "Nightfall" to the big screen.

Written and created by Scott O. Brown with art by Ferran Xalabarder, "Nightfall" was published in 2007 by Platinum.

Wan co-created and directed the first installment of the "Saw" franchise and continues to serve as an Executive Producer on the series, which is rapidly approaching $1 Billion dollars worldwide. Wan's latest outing, "Insidious," wrapped in June and is scheduled to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

"The minute I heard the concept, I was in," says Wan, "and then reading the graphic novel cemented that. Like 'Saw' it's a simple concept that, if executed correctly, will be so cool."

"James is the perfect director to bring 'Nightfall' to the big screen," says Platinum CEO and producer Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. "James' experience crafting the contained horror in 'Saw,' will be a big help in his informing the visual experience of 'Nightfall.'"

Rosenberg will produce with Aurora's Stuart. Former Universal Pictures senior executive Randy Greenberg of The Greenberg Group will serve as an executive producer.

"Nightfall" is only one title from Platinum's multi-universe library. Platinum Studios' entertainment division is in production on "Cowboys & Aliens" with producers Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer and DreamWorks, Universal Pictures, Imagine Entertainment and Kurtzman/Orci (the writing team behind the "Transformers" and "Star Trek" franchises) and in the final stages of post-production on the independently financed feature, "Dylan Dog: Dead Of Night." Platinum is developing "Unique" with "Harry Potter" producer David Heyman at Walt Disney Pictures, "The Witchblade" with "Wanted" executive producer Marc Silvestri, Arclight Films and Top Cow Productions, Inc., "Mal Chance" with producer Tony Krantz ("24"), an untitled feature film project at Sony Pictures Animation, and "Blood Nation" with producer Alexandra Milchan. Platinum's Rosenberg would serve as a producer on all Platinum Studios film projects.

Wan is represented by Scott Henderson at Paradigm and managed by Stacey Testro at Testro International.
