Scadding Court Community Centre: What's Next for Ontario's Police Complaints System?

WHAT: Release of a community-based report that puts forward a new three
pillar model (community, police and government) for Ontario's new
police complaints system and specific recommendations for its

WHY: The McGuinty government has followed up on its pledge to reform the
province's police complaints system with new legislation and a new
Office of the Independent Police Review Director. However, regulations
for this system remain to be developed and the government's funding
commitment to it is unclear. Ontario's police complaints system needs
to be effective and available to all Ontarians.
