Scalent Systems to Speak at the 2006 Enterprise IT Innovation Summit

PALO ALTO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 27, 2006 --

WHAT:

Scalent Systems, the leading provider of server infrastructure repurposing software for large enterprise data centers, will speak in a panel that takes a look at the current and future state of innovation in enterprise infrastructure software at the first annual Enterprise IT Innovation Summit put on by the 451 Group. Kevin Epstein, vice president of marketing at Scalent Systems, will join other industry luminaries to discuss virtualization and other platform plays around the data center. In particular, Mr. Epstein will cover some of the top issues companies must consider before undertaking virtualization as the cornerstone of an IT consolidation and business continuity strategy, including how IT teams can rack once, cable once, then reconfigure repeatedly, in minutes.

Questions will be addressed such as whether server virtualization really meets all the requirements that underlie the challenges faced by IT organizations today, which checklists should be in place to determine when a company is ready to roll virtualization out across the entire data center, and which alternatives and complementary technologies companies should consider as part of their complete virtualization strategy.

The panel discussion will be punctuated with customer case studies to explore these questions, and provide guidelines for constructing a pragmatic solution that can help companies meet their virtualization objectives.

WHY:

Every IT organization is challenged today to do more with less. Uncontrolled server sprawl, low server utilization, and escalating cost of operations are widespread concerns. Server virtualization has emerged as a potential solution. It is being evaluated by many for their IT consolidation and business continuity initiatives. There are multiple products to choose from. Several vendors, big and small, have embraced this trend wholeheartedly and are beginning to offer products specifically designed to manage virtual servers. Server virtualization is clearly becoming a key tool in every data center's tool box.
