ScanAlert Teams Up With Microsoft to Promote Data Security and Online Advertising Initiative

NAPA, CA--(Marketwire - October 3, 2007) - ScanAlert is working with Microsoft to promote HACKER SAFE® certification and the Microsoft adCenter network to online retailers. The collaborative effort aligns over 75,000 websites that display the world's most widely used data security trustmark, with the millions of search users on the MSN and Windows Live networks.

The agreement's initial marketing components will see Microsoft sponsoring 20% discounts on HACKER SAFE certification services to all adCenter advertisers, while ScanAlert provides complimentary introductory pay-per-click packages for adCenter to all HACKER SAFE merchants.

"Microsoft adCenter and HACKER SAFE are a tremendous combination for online retailers of all sizes looking to find and convert more consumers," said Brady Miller, Vice President of Retail/ E-Commerce at ExOfficio, a leading brand of apparel for the active travel lifestyle. "We're far more effective with our marketing dollars, and reach significantly more qualified searchers using Microsoft adCenter. It is also fundamentally important that prospective customers understand that the security of our website is independently audited and certified every day. We've seen great results using HACKER SAFE certification for the past two years, with A/B split testing showing an 18.4% increase in converting our website visitors to buyers."

"Keyword advertising across Live Search is an effective, low-cost way for businesses to find new customers, and by taking advantage of adCenter's targeting capabilities, they can reach the right audience at the right time," said David Jakubowski, General Manager, Microsoft adCenter. "Potential customers are more likely to feel comfortable purchasing through a site that they know is safe."

"This is an exciting joint effort by two companies that are clear leaders in their respective fields," added ScanAlert CEO Ken Leonard. "We're enthusiastic about introducing our customers to the benefits of adCenter, so they can take advantage of Microsoft's distribution reach. Keyword advertising drives more qualified traffic, which retailers can convert more profitably by certifying their security to the HACKER SAFE standard."

HACKER SAFE is the world's most recognized assurance of Internet security. Using its patent pending technology, ScanAlert conducts daily security audits to certify clients to the HACKER SAFE standard. Websites meeting the standard can then promote their certified security to site visitors by placing the HACKER SAFE certification trustmark on their sites. As long as the standard is met, ScanAlert continues to serve a date-stamped image from its network to the site.
