School Fundraising Takes a Healthy Turn

NORTH BAY, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 11, 2007) - Today marked the launch of Help On Board's B-better line of fundraising products. Geared primarily to schools and sports teams, these healthy mind, healthy body, healthy community products provide a great alternative for groups looking to raise funds.

Help On Board President Ben Farella, a parent of three young boys involved in school and sports fundraising efforts, recognized a need for a more conscientious approach to fundraising. "Isn't it unfortunate that the majority of today's school fundraising products don't contribute to our kids' development or well-being?" asked Farella, who then added, "Why are kids selling stuff that we wouldn't buy for them otherwise." These questions led to the development of a series of "Fundraising with a Conscience" products that include a healthy snack bar option, an organizational skills development family calendar, and self-esteem/social awareness building products for children.

In today's environment where school boards are implementing healthy eating guidelines and requiring students to complete community service hours, these types of products are a natural fit. They reinforce the positive messages being sent out by parents, schools/organizations, and they teach positive, healthy lifestyle skills.
