School Web Lockers Announces Contract Extension With Riverside Unified School District for Web-Based Collaboration and Storage

California's 14th Largest School District Gains Productivity Advantages With Cost-Effective Computing Platform

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - October 16, 2007) - School Web Lockers, a leader in cost-effective, web-based computing solutions for K-12 schools and school districts, today announced that California's Riverside Unified School District has agreed to a three-year contract extension. The agreement calls for School Web Lockers to continue to deliver powerful online services for collaboration and storage to the district's 46,000 students, teachers and administrators.

School Web Lockers first began its partnership with Riverside Unified School District in 2004, starting with a pilot system for one classroom in each of the district's nine secondary schools, and then expanding to its current level in which all 45 schools across the district participate.

According to Jay McPhail, coordinator of K-12 instructional services for Riverside Unified School District, School Web Lockers has proven to be a valuable resource for students, teachers and administrators alike. "The School Web Lockers platform gives students and instructors access to information that might not otherwise be available to them beyond the school day, which sets the stage for improved success in the classroom," he said. "We are pleased to renew the contract as we continue to roll out new features for the system that will further benefit the district."

Plans are in place to provide the capability to create blogs and podcasts using School Web Lockers as a communication platform. In addition, the district's student performance software application, RUSDconnect, will soon be integrated with the School Web Lockers system to provide parents and students with convenient access to information on grades, attendance, graduation progress and other data from a single web location.

"We are very pleased to extend the excellent partnership that we have with Riverside Unified School District," said Darryl Vidal, vice president of Networld Solutions, Inc., the parent company of School Web Lockers. "Through use of the School Web Lockers platform, the district has demonstrated its interest in using the most advanced K-12 technology solutions available to enhance communications and productivity."

Each school or school district that School Web Lockers serves receives its own secure, password-protected web site for collaboration and storage. The system is completely hosted within the School Web Lockers data center, which means schools not only reduce their investment in technology infrastructure, but they also eliminate software maintenance and administration costs. In addition, School Web Lockers removes the need for paper by allowing teachers to upload documents and post them directly into student web lockers.

A teacher can simply upload one document and post it in all student lockers instead of making multiple hand-out copies. In turn, students can complete assignments on the computer and upload their documents into a "homework due" folder, which is then sent directly to teachers. Remote access is easy, so that work can be started in class and completed outside of school.
