Second-Annual Trek WSD Breast Cancer Awareness Ride Scheduled

WATERLOO, WI--(Marketwire - October 11, 2007) - Trek WSD's second-annual Breast Cancer Awareness Ride (BCAR) is scheduled for Saturday, October 13, 2007. Created by Trek's Women's Specific Design team in collaboration with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), the WSD Breast Cancer Awareness Ride is a special event for women, and their support network, that aims to raise awareness for breast cancer research, screening, and education. Organized at the local level by Trek retailers in 56 cities across 26 states, including the Canadian province of British Columbia, the Breast Cancer Awareness Ride is a casual, "no-drop" 10- or 25-mile ride, with all registration proceeds going to the BCRF.

"The original dream for the event was simply to have Trek dealers across the country riding with their customers on the same day, at the same time, to raise awareness for breast cancer," notes Krista Rettig, Trek's Women's Specific Design Brand Manager. "It was a grassroots effort to show our support for people impacted by this disease and to help our dealers make a difference in their community by providing them with the resources necessary to execute the event at the local level.

"This year the event has grown nearly two-fold over last year's ride, and I'm very excited that several of Trek's partners have joined in to support the ride with product donations that will help make the event even more successful. Bissell provided vacuum cleaners for the raffle; PowerBar supplied every rider with a Pria bar; Timex offered 70 women's watches; Saris donated five pink Bones racks for the raffle; and Trek Travel offered a fantastic grand prize weekend trip for two to California's Wine Country. I couldn't be more excited about this year's dealer participation and the number of riders we have pre-registered."

BCAR rides are schedule for 10 AM local time, with each participating Trek dealer creating its own unique BCAR experience by providing either a pre-ride, post-ride, or both a pre- and post-ride reception. Visit to get more ride information, find the nearest participating dealer, sign up to ride, or pledge a donation of support.
