Secret Machines Raise Awareness From the Road

Secret Machines Rock for Darfur in San Diego on October 21; Band to Promote Public Transportation by Playing Union Station in Los Angeles on October 24

BURBANK, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 16, 2006 -- The Secret Machines are wasting no time and are maximizing their philanthropic efforts to raise awareness from the road. On October 21 they will perform in San Diego, raising funds for the impoverished and ravaged region of Darfur. On a lighter note, the band will make its way to Los Angeles, a city driven by its exasperating traffic, to play Union Station in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, encouraging people to ride the metro and see a truly special event.

The Secret Machines and 20 other bands on the road have joined together with to raise awareness for Darfur. has organized bands of all genres to play all over the U.S. for one special night, and on October 21, 2006 the band will take the stage in San Diego and play in the round. Uniting them nationwide with such bands as TV on The Radio, +44, Ziggy Marley and more, portions of ticket sales will go towards humanitarian aid in the devastated region. In continuing the cause to promote mass transit throughout Los Angeles, The Secret Machines will play the historic Union Station on October 24 after their Los Angeles show at the Avalon. Together with Global Inheritance, this special show called "Public Displays of Affection" will only allow those who have taken the metro to see the band play. A photo exhibit hosted by nightcrawler/photographer Mark The Cobrasnake will feature people using public transportation throughout Los Angeles. More acts to be announced shortly.

Intending to create an extraordinary and memorable concert event for their fans, the band has done away with the common end stage set-up, and will instead appear on an elevated circular platform in the center of each venue, allowing the audience to gather around them just a few feet away. Playing in the round provides a truly communal live experience for the audience, who will be standing close enough to brothers Brandon and Benjamin Curtis and Josh Garza to feel their sweat. URB wrote of the album "Ten Silver Drops": "The Secret Machines secure their position at the helm of indie rock's royal court by combining the musical genes of our classic rock ancestors with their forward-thinking lyricism and arrangements, resulting in an ass-kicking sophomore effort."
