Secure Computing's Webwasher Achieves 99.86 Percent Success in an August Anti-Malware Detection Study by AV Test Labs

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - October 9, 2007) - Secure Computing Corporation (NASDAQ: SCUR), a leading enterprise gateway security company, today announced that in an independent test conducted by AV Test Labs (, Secure Computing's Webwasher® anti-malware engine achieved 99.86% detection success, surpassing all of the leading vendors and scoring higher than 27 other companies. Secure Computing's reputation-based Web gateway solution, Webwasher, correctly identified the majority of 874,822 threat samples used in the study. The research conducted mirrored the true magnitude of malware threats and illustrated the varying degrees of competitive product effectiveness in detecting these threats.

For this test, AV Test Labs only used current samples that were seen spreading (or which were distributed by malware authors) within the last six months. A total of 874,822 unique malware samples were used for this test, including worms, backdoors, bots (zombies) and Trojan Horses.

These lab results demonstrate the superior ability of Webwasher to effectively secure users in a rapidly evolving and increasingly hazardous threat landscape.
