Secure Computing's Webwasher Anti-Malware Engine Beats Leading Vendors to Win Top Honors in Comparative Review

Webwasher Employs Proven Technology to Provide Superior Detection in a Rapidly Evolving Threat Environment

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - January 8, 2008) - Secure Computing Corporation (NASDAQ: SCUR), a leading enterprise gateway security company, today announced that in an independent test Secure Computing's Webwasher® Anti-Malware engine ranked first place, surpassing all of the leading vendors and scoring higher than 26 other companies as the top product for detecting malware. The research, conducted by independent AV Test Labs (www.av-test.org) and published in November, mirrored the true magnitude of malware threats and illustrated the varying degrees of effectiveness of anti-malware products in detecting these threats. This is the fourth time this year that Secure Computing's Webwasher has achieved a top position in an AV Test Labs round-up review. Even though threats continue to change and evolve, Secure Computing has been consistent in its unsurpassed protection methods.

The test bombarded each solution with over one million different malicious files from the past 6 months and evaluated malware detection capabilities performed on Windows XP. With a combination of Trojans, backdoors, and bots (zombies) to detect, Secure Computing's Webwasher technology emerged as the clear winner, detecting 99.45 percent of the malicious files.

These lab results demonstrate the superior ability of Webwasher to effectively secure users in a hazardous threat landscape. Webwasher is the industry's first and only reputation-based Web gateway security solution that protects enterprises from spyware, phishing, malware, data leakage, and Internet misuse, while ensuring policy enforcement, regulatory compliance, and a productive application environment. The solution takes a new and radically different approach to Internet Security, employing Secure Computing's global reputation-based system and methodology, TrustedSource™, which assigns a reputation to message senders and Web URLs, domains and IP addresses in real-time. The result is highly proactive, providing "sub-zero-day" protection.

"Sophisticated targeted attacks aimed at monetary gain, have become a common occurrence in today's world," stated Andreas Marx, managing director for AV Test Lab. "Proactive protection based on behavioral analysis is a requirement for responsible enterprises."

"Receiving a top score from AV Test Labs, the most credible security testing lab in the world, validates our pioneering, reputation-based approach," said Ken Rutsky, vice president of Product Marketing, Secure Computing. "It is clear that with over one million threat samples seen in the wild over the last six months, users need to administer the most reliable and effective security solution on the market. Secure Computing's Webwasher has once again out-performed competitive solutions."
