SecureWorks Counter Threat Unit Researcher, Ben Feinstein, to Present Social Networking Cyber Risks at DeepSec in Austria

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - November 17, 2009) - SecureWorks®, Inc., a leading, global provider of security services protecting 2,600 clients worldwide, announced today that its Counter Threat Unit(SM) (CTU) researcher Ben Feinstein will present at the DeepSec In-depth Security Conference (IDSC) on social networking risks in Vienna, Austria, November 19. DeepSec IDSC is an annual European conference on computer, network, and application security, and hosts some of the most notable information security experts from around the world in the areas of academics, government, industry, and the underground hacking community.

Feinstein's presentation titled, "#TwitterRisks: Bot C&C, Data Loss, Intel Collection & More" will discuss how the popularity of social networking services has created new risks to both the individual user, as well as to organizations. The same properties that make social networking services attractive communication tools also make them well suited for potential malicious use as a distributed, resilient, stealthy and scalable botnet command and control mechanism that can be used to exfiltrate data from compromised hosts. The talk will include demonstrations of these concepts.

Feinstein is a well regarded speaker on cyber threats and countermeasures in the information security industry, and has been invited to speak at Black Hat, MasterCard Global Risk Management Conference and IT Security World, among others. He has nearly a decade of experience designing, implementing and operating security-related systems. Feinstein works alongside a team of expert researchers in SecureWorks' CTU to identify and analyze emerging threats and develop countermeasures to protect clients' critical information assets.
