Security Specialist gateProtect Debuts at Interop® Las Vegas 2010 and Showcases Ergonomic Enterprise Gateway Security

On Stand 915 at Interop® in Las Vegas, 25-29 April 2010, gateProtect Will Present New GPZ-2500 UTM Appliance That Offers Protection for Large Enterprises, Higher Security Levels for Mobile Staff and Remote Offices

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - April 19, 2010) -  gateProtect, a German-based provider of Unified Threat Management (UTM) solutions, announced today that it will be exhibiting at Interop® in Las Vegas for the first time in its history. The recognized security specialist will be presenting its new enterprise solution, the GPZ-2500, which features its unique eGUI® technology. As the appliance is equipped with crypto acceleration processors, it is ideally suited to complex VPN environments and is designed to protect mobile staff and remote offices. gateProtect is showing this and other products on Stand 915 at Interop®, which takes place from 25 to 29 April 2010 at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

"Today it's normal practice to make corporate data available 24/7 so that company staff and partners are able to work with the most current information, even when they're on the road," comments Dennis Monner, CEO of gateProtect. "However, with the increasing number of applications and mobile devices that access systems, there are more potential points of attack and a higher risk of data misuse. This is why high-performance, secure VPNs are essential. The GPZ-2500 is designed specially to handle these challenges and its top-quality hardware also offers companies a significant increase in performance."

gateProtect Z-Series: Meets Increasing Enterprise Security Needs
On its stand at Interop®, gateProtect will be showcasing the gateProtect z-Series, its new line of products for the enterprise. With this family, the company is also launching its new flagship product, the GPZ-2500, which is a UTM appliance for use in environments with several thousand users. The GPZ-2500 sets new benchmarks for data security and performance, with the integrated crypto accelerator hardware enabling a very high VPN data throughput of 2.5 gigabits per second. Like all gateProtect appliances, the GPZ-2500 is easy to manage via the gateProtect Command Center and integrate in statistical and reporting analyses. Further features of the GPZ-2500 include scalability, high performance levels, and intuitive management.

PE International, a gateProtect customer, is a leading provider of strategic consulting, software solutions and comprehensive services in the area of sustainability. "There are several factors that mark gateProtect out from other providers' solutions. These include the attractive user interface, the broad-based security functionality, and intuitive operation that is tolerant of mistakes and supports routine tasks," says Daniel Coen, Customer Relations at PE International. "As users, we benefit from very low training and implementation costs, as well as a high level of user acceptance and productivity. Last but definitely not least, the solutions have enabled us to minimize errors and significantly increase the security of our corporate network," he adds. While developing its eGUI® (ergonomic Graphic User Interface), gateProtect focused on users and their work right from the outset. All of the company's design choices are guided by the recommendations of the ISO standard 9241. Their two common denominators are an attractive interface and an intuitive mode of operation.

GPZ-2500: 99.97 Percent Failsafe
The gateProtect GPZ-2500 provides companies -- even those with complex infrastructures -- with a consistent level of security throughout the enterprise, without compromising on performance. With its two hard disks (RAID 1), a power supply unit with built-in redundancy, and its powerful High Availability mode, the appliance is failsafe to 99.97 percent. Combined with 6 SFP ports for optical or glass fiber connectivity, the VPN crypto acceleration for rapid integration of remote offices and field-based staff, and the full range of functionality that gateProtect offers, the GPZ-2500 provides a level of flexibility and performance that meets the needs of the most demanding customer requirements and network infrastructures.

The new appliance is available in two models: the GPZ-2500 and the GPZ-2500a. Both deliver a firewall throughput of 7 gigabits per second (Gbps). The GPZ-2500 is equipped with 18 network gigabit ports and the GPZ-2500a with 14. Management is made easy and efficient with the eGUI® graphical administration interface, and can be extended by integrating the additional monitoring and analysis functions available in the gateProtect Command Center. The gateProtect GPZ-2500 is available now. The list price of the GPZ-2500 starts at US$ 26,063 plus sales tax.
