Select Committee on Mental Health and Addiction

WINDSOR, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 27, 2010) - Addictions Ontario is pleased to acknowledge the work of the Select Committee on Mental Health and Addiction. It is clear from their report "Navigating the Journey to Wellness: The Comprehensive Mental Health and Addictions Action Plan for Ontarians" that the Select Committee has been able to synthesize the complexities of the addiction treatment system in Ontario into specific recommendations. Addictions Ontario looks forward to working with the province of Ontario to help them further understand the distinct needs of people dealing with addictions versus mental health and becoming part of core health care services.

"We agree that a core basket of services in all regions of Ontario will ensure that the recommendations of the Select Committee come to fruition" said Norma Medulun, President of Addictions Ontario.

"We want to be able to deliver services to all Ontarians. We hope that this report will create a momentum for change to support our system in the delivery of care to our clients."
