Senators Announce Changes to Hockey Front Office

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 26, 2009) - Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today that the club has promoted Pierre Dorion to director of player personnel and Randy Lee to director of hockey administration and player development.

Dorion, 37, enters his third season with the Senators after spending one season as chief amateur scout and one as an amateur scout. As director of player personnel, he will be responsible for managing the Senators scouting staff, both professional an amateur. Dorion will oversee all facets of evaluation for players, inside and outside of the organization.

An Ottawa native, Dorion joined the Senators in July 2007 after spending the previous two seasons as an amateur scout for the New York Rangers and 11 seasons with the Montreal Canadiens, where he served as an amateur scouting co-ordinator and later chief scout.

Lee, 47, enters his 15th season with the Senators and his first as both director of hockey administration and of player development. Lee served last season as director of player development, six seasons as the Senators' conditioning and player development coach, five seasons in the dual role of video and conditioning coach and two seasons as the team's video coach.

Also a native of Ottawa, Lee's role will see him focus on a variety of tasks, including the management and evaluation of the hockey budget and development of players throughout the team's system, including prospects at the American Hockey League, college, junior hockey and European league levels. He also works with the Senators' current regular roster, guiding players with all aspects of their development, both on and off the ice. Lee oversees the team's development and rookie camps in addition to advising team management on the progress of all Senators prospects.
