Senators Recall Josh Hennessy From AHL's Binghamton

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 9, 2007) - The Ottawa Senators today recalled centre Josh Hennessy from the American Hockey League's Binghamton Senators on an emergency basis to play in tonight's game against the Boston Bruins at Scotiabank Place. Hennessy replaces Antoine Vermette, who remains day-to-day with a hip injury.

This is the fourth recall of the season for Hennessy, who made his NHL debut on Dec. 12 in the Senators' 3-2 win over the Red Wings in Detroit and scored his last goal on Sunday in Ottawa's 6-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. In eight games with Ottawa this season, he has one goal on six shots, two penalty minutes and averaged 6:07 of ice time per game.

The 21-year-old native of Brockton, Mass., is third in team scoring in Binghamton with 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points. He also has 30 penalty minutes in 33 games.

Binghamton's next game is Friday, Jan. 12, when they host the Hershey Bears. The Senators are in seventh place in the AHL's East Division with 11 wins, 22 losses and four overtime losses for 26 points in 37 games.
