Sensory Networks Introduces New Software Acceleration Product Line: Providing 6GBPS IPS Performance Without the Need for Specialized Hardware

New Innovative Software Libraries Running on Standard Low Cost Platforms Provide a Dramatic Impact on Price/Performance

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - January 14, 2008) - Sensory Networks, the leader in acceleration technology for network security applications, today announced the release of their patent-pending FastChannel™ and HyperScan™ software acceleration product lines. These products represent the industry's first software-only acceleration technology that enables resource-intensive applications such as Intrusion Prevention (IPS), Antivirus (AV) and Content Filtering to operate at multi-gigabit throughput speeds on standard low cost platforms without the need for any specialized hardware. Setting a new performance standard, FastChannel can now run Snort® IPS version 2.7 at over 6 Gbps, with full coverage, operating using standard Intel® Quad-Core Xeon® processors.

"The throughput performance and scalability achieved by using Sensory's new software on our Quad-Core processors was very impressive," said Marwan Khoury, Director of Platform & Technology Enabling, Embedded Communications Group, Intel Corporation. "This proves the suitability of using Intel silicon for even the most advanced networking and security equipment."

"As the security equipment market continues to become more competitive, designing to price/performance goals has become critical for vendors," said Sab Gosal, VP of Marketing for Sensory Networks. "Our FastChannel and HyperScan product lines address this challenge head-on by allowing vendors to now leverage software-only solutions to deliver application performance that can scale to 10Gbps. These new software-only solutions eliminate the cost, complexity and technology risk that come with using custom-built silicon and other hardware alternatives."

FastChannel is a proprietary lock-free, zero-copy, load-balancing and packet processing software library that scales linearly across multiple CPU cores, dynamically distributing network traffic loads. FastChannel can be applied to IPS, Firewall, Content Inspection, AV, and virtually any networking and security application to dramatically improve the price/performance value proposition.

HyperScan comprises a suite of high-speed optimized pattern-matching and scanning engines that perform Deep-Packet Inspection (DPI) on network traffic. Using advanced knowledge of x86 architectures and instruction sets, HyperScan software provides up to 10 Gbps of scanning throughput for PCRE, literal, packet header and other data types. Sensory's patent-pending technologies enable them to keep working sets in L1 and L2 cache and thereby operate at the full speed of each CPU core.

Sensory's FastChannel and HyperScan libraries are highly scalable and deployable across multiple platforms and product lines. Designed for easy integration, the combined libraries represent a comprehensive software toolkit for equipment vendors looking to improve the price/performance of their products by as much as 5X.

"There will always be demand for more performance for less money when it comes to security, and Sensory's software accelerators show a clear price/performance breakthrough in the network security market," said Jeff Wilson, Principal Analyst for Infonetics Research. "Delivering 6 Gbps of IPS throughput using software-only acceleration on a low-cost off-the-shelf platform will help drive IPS technology into the mainstream."
