Sensory Networks to Showcase High-Speed Content Inspection on Intel® Atom™ Processor at IDF 2008

Company to Demonstrate Its New Software Pattern Matching and Acceleration Software Running on Intel's Smallest Processor to Deliver High-Speed Deep Packet Inspection at 400 Mbps

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - August 19, 2008) - IDF 2008 -- Sensory Networks, the leader in pattern matching and acceleration software technology, will be showcasing the scalability of their new HyperScan™ and FastChannel™ software by demonstrating deep content inspection running at a throughout of 400Mbps on the Intel® Atom™ Processor. This will take place at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2008 conference, booth #135, Moscone Center West, San Francisco, from August 19th to 21st.

"To demonstrate the high level of scalability and flexibility our software provides, we've shifted gears to the ultra low-end of the market," said Sab Gosal, VP of Marketing for Sensory Networks. "Earlier this year at RSA, we showcased a 10Gbps Intrusion Prevention solution using the same software running on an off-the-shelf Intel multi-core platform. Now we're broadening our software's applicability with Intel® Atom™."

"With our software running on Intel® Atom™ processor-based platform, vendors can now deliver to the market place a MID-based appliance, running full IPS at 400Mbps, for a cost of around $500 off-the-shelf," said Mick Johnson, Director of Product Marketing for Sensory Networks. "This kind of fully packaged, ready-to-ship, product is ideal for small businesses and enterprise deployment."

"The Intel® Atom™ processor is our smallest processor designed for low power consumption and intended for a new wave of Mobile Internet Devices (MID) and embedded devices," said Siva Balasubramanian, business alliance manager, Intel Embedded and Communications Group. "Providing high performance content inspection and security protection is an important requirement for customers and Sensory's software based on Intel's Atom processor enables these capabilities."

HyperScan is a highly portable, easy-to-integrate software library that provides L2 - L7 pattern matching and deep content inspection, scaling from ultra-low end applications, such as the one described above, through to 20Gbps / CPU core. This software solution incorporates a full PCRE engine coupled with cutting-edge algorithmic and signature compilation technology, to provide a content inspection engine that leverages cache memory to scan millions of patterns simultaneously.

FastChannel is a proprietary zero-copy, context-switch free packet processing software library that manages and dynamically distributes network traffic across CPU cores. One of the key performance related innovations encompassed in this software solution is the ability to map traffic in the kernel's address space and pass packets to user-space by address.

Both HyperScan and FastChannel, while normally used in combination, can also operate mutually exclusively to provide super-linear scalability ranging from an entry-level single CPU footprint to complex high-end multicore architectures. This software solution can be applied to virtually any networking and security application where there is a need to dramatically improve the content inspection capabilities and the price/performance value proposition.

At IDF 2008, Sensory Networks will be utilizing a Spirent TestCenter SPT2000A configured with a CPR-1001B module to provide high-speed, real-time, network testing of Sensory Networks software running on the Intel® Atom™ platform. "Spirent products are the obvious choice when it comes to testing leading-edge applications and platforms in the networking and security markets," said Kameron Moshier, Product Marketing Manager, Spirent Communications. "The performance results from the combination of Intel's hardware and Sensory's software are very impressive."

Sensory Networks will be exhibiting its technology at the Intel Developer Forum, booth #135, from August19th to 21st, 2008 at the Moscone Center West, San Francisco. Parties interested in seeing the demo and meeting the technical team should contact Sensory Networks at
