Sentinel Solar Corp. and SolGate Inc. Announce Solar Alliance in Ontario

WOODBRIDGE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 31, 2010) - Sentinel Solar Corp., formerly Sentinel Power Systems Inc., is pleased to announce a new business partnership with Ontario-based solar module manufacturer SolGate Inc. This relationship leverages Sentinel's strengths in marketing, distribution and system design with Solgate's manufacturing expertise in the Ontario solar market space.

Sentinel Solar has been recognized across Ontario for its leadership in distributing and delivering commercial, agricultural and residential solar power solutions since 2003. "This exclusive distribution partnership with Solgate ensures Sentinel will continue to have a consistent supply of quality, Ontario-made solar modules to address its rapidly expanding business in Ontario," according to Adam Webb, President of Sentinel Solar. "With the Ontario Power Authority's (OPA) increasing emphasis on Ontario content in the Feed-in Tariff and MicroFIT Programs, access to locally made solar modules is vital."

As a result of the significant increase in interest in solar power in Ontario, Sentinel and Solgate have dramatically scaled up operations. They share a newly expanded 25,000 square foot facility in Woodbridge, Ontario and now have 30 people employed between the two companies, with that number continuing to grow. The biggest change is Solgate's expanded production capacity, going from 6 to 25 megawatts of solar modules per year. This is due to its recent investment in new, state-of-the-industry equipment for manufacturing high-efficiency polycrystalline solar modules, featuring a new line of 215 watt modules.

Sentinel is also expanding its offering in response to market demand with a new 10 kilowatt dual axis solar tracking system that will be launched in May, 2010. This solar tracker, modeled after its very successful 2.5 kW design, increases the collection efficiency of a system by up to 40%, shortening the payback period of a system under the MicroFIT Program.

In addition to using Solgate's locally made solar modules, Sentinel also offers proprietary Ontario-made roof mounts for residential systems and, in June 2010, will launch a line of locally made commercial ballast racking for non-penetrating flat roof mount systems.

Finally, Sentinel, which has a long-standing relationship with leading solar microinverter company Enphase Energy of Petaluma, Calif., will be receiving shipments of microinverters from Enphase's new manufacturing production line in Ontario, starting in May of 2010. Sentinel was the first Ontario-based company to use Enphase microinverters, and is currently one of Enphase's premier distributors in Canada.
