Service Canada: Improved Service Canada Centre Now Open for Business in Swan River

SWAN RIVER, MANITOBA--(Marketwire - Oct. 12, 2007) - Inky Mark, Member of Parliament for Dauphin-Swan River-Marquette, on behalf of the Honourable Monte Solberg, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, today announced the opening of an improved and relocated Service Canada Centre in Swan River. This centre will make it easier for residents to access the government programs and services they need, where and when they need them.

"Canada's New Government is working to provide Canadians living in many remote, rural, and northern communities with easier access to government assistance and information," Mr. Mark said. "With this new and improved Service Canada Centre, residents of Swan River and neighbouring communities have access to personal assistance from people who can help them get the right information about the programs and services they need."

The Service Canada Centre in Swan River is now located at 355 Kelsey Trail, Unit 1, and will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

In Manitoba, there are currently 28 Service Canada Centres, as well as 20 outreach sites that give Canadians living in remote, rural, and northern communities access to government assistance and information.

Through a combination of online services (servicecanada.gc.ca), a national telephone information line, and Service Canada Centres, information on programs and services is just a call, click, or visit away. Service Canada's strong regional presence and cross-country service delivery network means Canadians can find information about passports, apply for a social insurance number, receive Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan, or seniors benefits, look for a job and plan a career, or find information about government programs and services, all in one place.

Service Canada brings Government of Canada services and benefits together in a single delivery network. It provides Canadians with one-stop, personalized service they can access however they choose-by phone at 1 800 O-Canada, on the Internet at servicecanada.gc.ca, or in person at Service Canada Centres across the country.
