Sg2's Reform-Ready Performance Solution Addresses Advocate Health Care's Mission

Largest Health System in Illinois Signs Contract for Sg2's INSIGHT Clinical Performance Management System

SKOKIE, IL--(Marketwire - August 19, 2010) -  Sg2, a future-focused health care information company, today announced a multiyear contract with Advocate Health Care for the Sg2 INSIGHT™ Clinical Performance Management System. The agreement encompasses all 10 of the organization's hospital campuses located throughout metro Chicagoland and central Illinois.

As a leading practice organization, Advocate's ability to translate clinical performance data into actionable results is fundamental to its success. With INSIGHT, Advocate will be able to track key metrics, benchmark performance against peer hospitals and identify specific areas of improvement to help mitigate financial risk and enhance outcomes across the care continuum.

A better understanding of the variations in care across all settings is core to Advocate's strategic approach. This will be achieved through INSIGHT's Sg2 Value Index™, a comparative score that evaluates and quantifies an organization's level of performance across inpatient and outpatient care sites. Derived by using key metrics -- including potentially avoidable admissions, length of stay, cost per case and 30-day readmissions -- the Sg2 Value Index will help Advocate set meaningful performance improvement goals and track changes at the enterprise, service line, disease and physician levels.

"The metrics embedded in Sg2's INSIGHT will help support Advocate's critical transition into the reform era," says Dr. Lee Sacks, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Advocate Health Care. "Based on INSIGHT findings, we will enhance initiatives including decreasing 30-day readmissions, streamlining case transitions and better managing to Medicare margins. The Value Index -- in particular -- will be especially revealing because it's the first time we will have a metric in place that measures and compares value with an external database."

Lois Elia, Vice President, Clinical Support Services of Advocate Health Care, says "We have worked with Sg2 over the past 4 years and have great confidence in their analytics, experts and future-focused perspective of health care. Our ultimate goal is to provide the greatest value across the care continuum and to improve outcomes for the communities we serve -- INSIGHT will help us accomplish this."

"As a progressive organization, Advocate fully understands the short- and long-term effects health reform will have on their business," says Sg2 Chairman and CEO Michael Sachs. "With its reform-ready metrics, INSIGHT will help Advocate prioritize opportunities for improvement, develop actionable improvement plans and prepare for payment changes to ensure high-quality care across all inpatient and outpatient sites -- their ultimate mission."

Due to their proactive clinical approach, Advocate Health Care has utilized a variety of Sg2 solutions since 2006. As an INSIGHT client, Advocate Health Care has access to a portfolio of resources, including Sg2 University courses, Web seminars, on-site leadership discussions, publications, expert opinions and ongoing networking opportunities. These offerings provide relevant information and thought leadership to support key business initiatives and to acquire strategies for success.
