Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians and Red Hawk Casino Present Gladiator Challenge Mixed Martial Arts Event on Saturday, December 12

Event Features Two World Title Fights Live at Red Hawk Casino

SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwire - December 7, 2009) - The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians and Red Hawk Casino are pleased to announce that they will host Gladiator Challenge, one of the longest-running mixed martial arts promotions in existence, on Saturday, December 12, at 6 p.m., underneath the porte cochere at Red Hawk Casino. The event called "Chain Reaction" will feature two world title bouts, as four of the most exciting fighters in Gladiator Challenge will vie for championship glory. The main event will feature a title match between Angel De Anda and Muay Thai specialist Drew Montgomery. The winner will take home the Gladiator Challenge Heavyweight belt. In addition, the co-main event will showcase a fight between Sean Shakur and World Extreme Cagefighting veteran and local favorite Poppies Martinez, who will be fighting to become the Gladiator Challenge Bantamweight Champion. Gladiator Challenge merchandise, food and drinks will be available for purchase. Live entertainment will also be part of the night's festivities. Gates open at 4 p.m.

Drew Montgomery is a classic striker with heavy hands, and all of his wins have come by way of KO/TKO. A three-year veteran who made his pro debut at Gladiator Challenge's "Beatdown" in 2006, will look to neutralize the size and power of the young Angel De Anda. One of these two will become the new Gladiator Challenge Heavyweight Champion.

Also on the line is the vacant Gladiator Challenge Bantamweight title. Poppies Martinez is a very experienced multi-time WEC veteran who has been fighting professionally since 2003. 15 of his 17 wins have come by either KO/TKO or submission, and he is mostly known for his well-developed ground skills. Standing in his way will be the young and hungry Sean Shakur, who will be looking to establish his name in the sport with a victory over the well-respected Martinez.

The public is also invited to the weigh-in on Friday, December 11 between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. at Red Hawk Casino's bus lobby. Following the weigh-in will be a special Friday edition of Up All Night, from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m., located at Pearl, inside Red Hawk Casino. Up All Night is the newest unrivaled social scene where the most alluring people mix, mingle and shake it up to the hottest beats in Sacramento.

A total of 20 mixed martial arts cage fights are scheduled to take place at Red Hawk Casino with a post-fight party at Koto Grille starting at 10 p.m. Entry is free to those with a Gladiator Challenge ticket stub. Gladiator Challenge memorabilia will be awarded throughout the night in drawings at the Stage Bar.

Tickets are on sale at Red Hawk Traders, the gift shop located in Red Hawk Casino, as well as 15 locations throughout the Sacramento area, and online at: http://www.gladiatorchallenge.com/tickets.asp.
