Shoney's Introduces First Scented Strawberry Pie Gift Card

NASHVILLE, TN--(Marketwire - November 6, 2007) - Shoney's has launched its first-ever gift card program in all 272 Shoney's restaurants nationwide. And one of the gift cards actually gives customers a tantalizing whiff of Shoney's famous strawberry pie when they scratch the photo on the card.

In addition to its strawberry pie scented gift cards, Shoney's is also featuring gift cards with the famous Shoney's sign and Shoney Bear mascot. Good toward any purchase of food or beverage items, the gift cards can be purchased in amounts up to $100 and can be reloaded at any time. While cards are not redeemable for cash, guests can check their balances by calling 800-444-4593 or visiting https://premierissue.53.com/main.html.

"Gift cards are always hot items during the holidays but ours might even make you hungry," said Dan Bigelow, Shoney's vice president of marketing. "We wanted to introduce our first gift card program with something memorable so we added the scent of our famous strawberry pie right onto the card."

Bigelow believes the strawberry pie scented gift card may be a first in the restaurant industry. By the end of 2007, Shoney's plans to introduce two new scents to its gift cards: hot fudge cake (with the aroma of chocolate) and pancakes (with the aroma of syrup).
