Sierra Systems Extends Leadership in the IT Service Management (ITSM) Market

Sierra System surpasses the 200 mark in trained and certified ITSM consultants

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - April 30, 2008) - Sierra Systems announces that in the first quarter of 2008 it had achieved a level of certification unequaled in the markets it serves - over 200 trained and certified ITSM consultants. The growing complexity of IT environments within most organizations has led many companies to deploy ITSM solutions that help them deliver their IT services more effectively and efficiently. According to Gartner Group, "With IT efforts to more effectively align with business needs, IT operations departments are adopting IT service management under pressure to move from a component orientation (such as managing networks, servers, storage, database and applications) to managing business-oriented, end-to-end IT services."

"We were early entrants in this market and we feel proud to have participated in the rapid development of the ITSM discipline. This market has historically been constrained - not by the software tools available - but rather by the trained service professionals that can lead the strategy, implementation and change management aspects of these initiatives. ITSM certification is a rigorous and specialized discipline and not many consultants have expertise in this area," said Altaf Jadavji, VP of Consulting Services at Sierra Systems. Sierra's consultants have led numerous high-profile ITSM projects for organizations in the public and private sectors across North America.

Starting in 2003, Sierra Systems began a professional development initiative where consultants were supported and encouraged to pursue the educational requirements and testing process required for certification. Today, that investment has paid off with the announcement of over 200 certified ITSM advisory professionals. "We have a long history working with Sierra Systems. The organization's commitment to the ITSM market and its investment to achieve such a depth of experienced resources enables Sierra to add value few in North America can match. That's proven by our track record of successful engagements in the joint-customers that we share," comments Ross McIntosh, Axios Systems' Vice President of North America.

Sierra's certified professionals are able to help clients manage the numerous areas of responsibilities that they currently face; including: service desk and incident management, problem management, asset and configuration management, change and release management, service level management and other initiatives aimed at improving the operational efficiency and effectiveness of IT-enabled organizations.
